We’re obsessive about ramen. No really, we travel to Barcelona—and hunt down the best ramen in town. Time to eat dinner in NYC, and we look for the best ramen. Our flight lands in SanFrancisco, we’re asking “Where’s the top ramen in town?”
So, when we stumbled on OKC’s Goro Ramen a few years back, it was pretty earth-shattering.
How is the best ramen we’ve EVER tasted sitting here in the middle of America? Not in Asia (where we ate ramen for years), not in Portland nor Seattle. It’s here, in OKC. Second to Japan, we’ve got the ramen scene made, friends.
Why This Ramen Is Amazing
- The spicy miso is incredibly fresh and effervescent
- The quality of the noodles is sublime
- Their ability to flavor and fry tofu (hello Vegans!) is outstanding
- The grilled pork meatballs are well-loved, but for you non-pork eaters, the chicken meatballs are fantastic
Non-Ramen Options
The OTHER non-ramen dishes (amazing curry lo-mein cooked in chicken fat, yes please!) are incredible.
- Kare Mazeman is the equivalent to the best curry lo-mein you ever had, but 900% better
- The tiny sandwiches (Nikuman) with meats or tofu might seem like “uuuuhhh is that worth it?” Answer: yes, they’re incredible
- “But I hate spicy!” …. No problem! Order the Tori Paitan ramen is super mild but still flavorful
- The chicken karaga left. *moment of silence* This appetizer was glorious bits or fried chicken with a side of home-made pickles. Still hoping it returns…HINT HINT.
The Cocktails
- They have beautiful seasonal cocktails
- The pineapple whisky highball was a special treat this summer
- Their selection of Japanese whisky drinks is unique and creative
- They do not have draft beer, but carry an array of Japanese beers in bottles
The Ambiance
- This is an ideal date night place
- It’s got incredibly beautiful lighting
- Fun, low key hipster music & art
